Eva Jospin - MICROCLIMA

Last weekend I went to Milano for a job trip. I discover a special artist's exibistion in a famous shop in the center of Milan: Max Mara. She is a magical artist that creates intricate, immersive scenes from the most humble of materials, carving monumental forests and architectural scapes. The French artist works predominantly with cardboard. I was impressed and fascinated by the power of his work.

A few of years ago I went to a Natural History Museum. It was an interesting old place, but animals  made me fear and sadness. They were ended up in there to be studied (unfortunately) But nature always inspired people. We are into the nature without watch it. I guess I'll look at these butterflies for my next paintings.

away we go / eyes full of grace

We walked through the woods into the light, through the reflections of the sculptures.
Our eyes were full of peace and the heart of trust.

Then we pretended to live in a house in the tree.

Love at First Sight

They’re both convinced
that a sudden passion joined them.
Such certainty is beautiful
but uncertainty is more beautiful still.
Since they’d never met before, they’re sure
that there’d been nothing between them.
But what’s the word from the streets, staircases, hallways –
perhaps they’ve passed each other by a million times?

I want to ask them
if they don’t remember –
a moment face to face
in some revolving door?
perhaps a “sorry” muttered in a crowd?
a curt “wrong number” caught in the receiver? –
but I know the answer.

No, they don’t remember.
They’d be amazed to hear
that Chance has been toying with them
now for years.
Not quite ready yet
to become their Destiny,
it pushed them close, drove them apart,
it barred their path,
stifling a laugh,
and then leaped aside.

There were signs and signals
even if they couldn’t read them yet.
Perhaps three years ago
or just last Tuesday
a certain leaf fluttered
from one shoulder to another?
Something was dropped and then picked up.

Who knows, maybe the ball that vanished
into childhood’s thickets?
There were doorknobs and doorbells
where one touch had covered another
beforehand.
Suitcases checked and standing side by side.
One night perhaps some dream
grown hazy by morning.

Every beginning
is only a sequel, after all,
and the book of events
is always open halfway through.

These sculptures speak about lightness, near to the afterlife. I've always appreciate the empty in the Art, for me is an essential part of aestetic. Empty and solid in balance with the universe.

Jim Hodges at Gladstone Gallery

Sculptor Jim Hodges (1957) created a compelling installation at Barbara Gladstone’s 21st St. location in NY, grouping 4 large scale boulders around a central void. Hodges replaced part of the original surface of the rock with vibrantly colored stainless steel casts offs. Part of an new body of work that extends to Gladstone Gallery’s 24th St. location as well, the installation is a magically poetic reference to many religious traditions, from Japanese Kami beliefs or Stonehenge worship sites to Judeo-Christian as well as Muslim practices in which rocks were  embellished to embody a myriad of spiritual notions.
